ABOUT MACKINAW
When we adopted Mackinaw at 6 weeks of age, we started his training at once and he took to it like a duck to water. He was not an easy train though. He was a wonderful challenge and it took me 16 months to get him to the dog he is today. He helps me in class in so many ways. I frequently have children in class who are afraid of big dogs and, after the 5 week program, their fear of him is not only gone but the parents tell me it has helped with their fear around their own dog and others.

Mack and I have done birthday parties where he is always a big hit with dog and non-dog loving children. Mackinaw has mastered the art of obedience commands and does them without guidance from me. He socializes not only with dog-shy people in class, but has socialized well over 7000 +dogs of various breeds. There has not been a dog, even very assertive dogs, that he has not won over. He never met a dog or human he didn't like. He is my constant companion and comes to all of my classes and some of my private lessons as well. He has been a role model, an obedience master and a friend to humans and dogs alike. He has been written about in professional publications, he's been on a Hallmark card and I could not have written my book without the education he gave me as a companion animal. He continues to give me confidence as a trainer on a daily basis. He loves to go swimming at the park and playing Frisbee and coming to class is his favorite pastime. There is not a food treat he has ever turned down and radishes is the only vegetable he turns his nose up at. He's older now, so swimming and his Frisbee days are behind him, but he won't let me leave for class without him.

Mackinaw passed away quietly in April of 2009.
Our hearts are broken and we will never, ever forget him.
We Love you Mackinaw!
Rest in Peace.
